CASSINI - the sheer effort!

A HUGE amount of effort from Piotr at Divine Acoustics has gone into the making of the CASSINI Isolation Platform. Let's dive a little deeper into the technology and effort that has gone into the CASSINI platform's design.

A CASSINI platform consists of five core areas. For simplicity of description, let’s assume that the vibration will pass sequentially through each area.

AREA 1 - Top section
The top section of the CASSINI has a sandwich structure – it consists of 8 layers of different densities and thicknesses. The top is finished with carbon fibre with minimal resin content and is protected with varnish. The remaining layers of the board are made of MDF, HDF, and exotic wood. One of the layers is a metal mesh that needs to be grounded.

AREA 2 - Internal KEPLER EVOLUTION Footers
Vibrations from the top section reach three Kepler EVOLUTION components placed under the top section in a precisely defined triangle. For each platform size (a total of 8 sizes to choose from), the triangle was experimentally selected using vibration generators. Measurements with accelerometers enabled the creation of a vibration distribution map for each platform size and the arrangement of support in a triangle providing the best anti-vibration effects.

AREA 3 - Bottom section
The Keplers rest on a bottom section with a similar sandwich structure to the top. One of its layers also requires grounding. The bottom section has additional elements designed to lift the top. This is to protect the gemstones in the Kepler EVOLUTION during transport of the Cassini platform.

AREA 4 - Steel Outriggers
The bottom section is suspended under steel outriggers, which transmit vibrations outside its outline. This makes the whole structure lower (with a lower center of gravity) and simultaneously reduces the intrinsic resonances of the CASSINI platform.

AREA 5 - GALILEO FOOTERS
The final module is the GALILEO isolation footers, which, thanks to their construction and vibration damping properties, enable precise “tuning” of the CASSINI platform to the device placed on it.
